D'Laine Rutledge LPC, CCMHC, NCC

D'Laine Rutledge

D’Laine grew up in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex and spent each summer and school holiday with grandparents in a small West Texas town where her family hails from, about an hour outside Lubbock. Her love for West Texas led her to choose Texas Tech University to obtain her Bachelors degree, which she earned from the Department of Animal Science with honors. She met her husband at Texas Tech and following college, had two wonderful children. Following college she became active in the community, serving on two Texas county child welfare boards and a regional child welfare board. After a move to the Kansas City area and her children becoming active in school, D’Laine returned to her education and earned her Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of Saint Mary.

D’Laine’s past experiences on the child welfare boards and a passion to help others led her to pursue becoming a professional counselor. Her mother also served as an inspiration, being a Methodist minister and chaplain helping children and their families at the Children’s Hospital of Dallas and the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. After graduating suma cum laude with her Masters, D’Laine gained a wealth of experience while earning her clinical hours by working in a variety of settings, to include a domestic violence shelter, two psychiatric residential and hospital facilities for children and youth, and a regional drug and alcohol provider working with the State of Kansas’ Dept. of Corrections to help inmates who struggled with addictions to participate in a drug and alcohol education program prior to re-entry into their communities.

Years later, D’Laine and her family returned to West Texas and she is delighted to have a private practice serving the Lubbock area! D’Laine has extensive experience working with children, youth and their families as well as victims of trauma and those struggling with addiction. As rural outreach is extremely important to D’Laine, she will be opening a satellite office in Spur, TX later in 2020 to provide services to those who are unable to travel to Lubbock.

“D’Laine possesses a wealth of practical experience combined with the ability to approach even very stressful situations in a logical and pragmatic fashion while still displaying compassion and caring for her clients.”
Leslie Hemphill, Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Psychology Programs at University of Saint Mary

“I met D’Laine almost a decade ago when we both worked at a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents, and have had nothing but positive things to say about her personal and professional qualities and abilities. The first thing that comes to mind is her passion and dedication to clients. She always went the extra mile to make sure the needs of her clients were met. She has years of experience and a vast knowledge when it comes to behavioral health, including ability to listen, assessing the needs and providing brief interventions during crises, as well as long term counseling depending on the specific needs of a client and his or her goals. She has a unique quality to connect with people and help in finding solutions. I highly recommend D’Laine and rate her professional abilities at the highest level.”
